Bricklayer #1 “I’m sticking bricks together.”
Bricklayer #2 “I’m making a wall.”
Bricklayer #3 “I’m building a cathedral.”
My sneaky question of the day is, “Do you want to build the cathedral?” Of course, who wouldn’t choose the more inspiring option?
Our Industrial Age bubble had got us focused on the Take Make Waste Lifestyle as “just the way things are done around here.” It’s a world view, a set of beliefs or assumptions – and you know what they say about those who ass-you-me. What ever you want to call it, our present society has soaked it in so much that we think it’s natural.
Well, as Michael Bungay Stanier smartly points out to us in his video Find Your Great Work, changing our focus changes what’s possible (something academic-types call a paradigm shift).
So, what if we shifted our focus to (re)designing our services, widgets and workplaces to be regenerative (like William McDonough does in his book Cradle to Cradle )?
What if we made more, wonder-full life possible, instead of toxifying it?
